Job Description : Mechanical Engineer position providing
construction management services to support the Next NGA West
program for the following specific discipline, a licensed
Mechanical Engineer whose function will be to serve as the
Mechanical Engineer during construction phase of the Next National
Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA) West Program, located in Saint
Louis, Missouri. This position will provide mechanical engineering
support for design and construction phase services to assist in the
accomplishment of all construction contracts related to the Next
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency West Program. Serves as an
on-site, licensed, mechanical engineer performing review of
submittals, RFIs, shop drawings, and other documents associated
with the N2W program, and performs routinely scheduled inspections
in the field. The AE will monitor the status of construction of
mechanical engineering elements to ensure compliance with contract
documents and notify the Government, in writing of any deficiencies
found from field inspections or document reviews. In addition to
notification of deficiencies, the AE will assess the contractor's
proposed action plan for said deficiencies and advise the
Government on the acceptability of the proposed solution. In some
instances, the AE will work collaboratively with the Government and
contractor to develop solutions that are acceptable to both.
Minimum Requirements 1. BS in Mechanical Engineering and or MA in
Mechanical Engineering is required2. PE License is required3.
Minimum experience of 10+ years in design analysis, specification
review, and on-site field inspection of projects/programs of
significant scale.Additional Experience / Qualification
Requirements: i- Prepare design studies, assessments, contract
drawings, analyses, design documentation reports, design
calculations, technical specifications, and labor and material
estimates for large and complex mechanical engineering projects and
equipment. ii- Responsible for systems such as heating,
ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR); plumbing;
fire suppression; utilities; industrial ventilation; controls; and
other building systems. iii- Review mechanical engineering designs
prepared by others including architect-engineer firms or other
USACE Districts/Centers for the above and similar type systems and
facilities. iv- Coordinate the design of mechanical systems with
features designed by other discipline engineers to ensure all
systems interact appropriately. v- Review mechanical portions of
contractor/manufacturer shop drawings and equipment submittals to
evaluate the adequacy and practicability of the equipment or system
design in conformance with contract requirements. vi- Make field
trips to construction or manufacturing sites to perform inspections
and witness testing to determine contract compliance and quality.
vii- Draft replies to architect-engineer firms, other
Districts/Centers, or contractors/manufacturers regarding the
mechanical portions to set forth the basis for exceptions taken and
revisions required in proposed mechanical systems. viii- Evaluate
condition of existing mechanical systems and makes recommendations
for correction or improvement. ix- Provide technical support and
guidance to lower grade engineers. x- Perform field Quality
Assurance (QA) to ensure that mechanical components on the campus
are being constructed in accordance with all applicable contract
documents. xi- Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
on large projects. xii- Knowledge of design and visualizations
software such as AutoCAD, or similar. xiii- Project management and
supervision skills. xiv- Strong communication and interpersonal
skills. xv- BS in Mechanical Engineering and or MA in Mechanical
Engineering is required. xvi- PE License is required.
