Investment Analyst LOCATION: St. Louis, MO DIRECT HIRE The Investment Analyst will bring together technology, talent, proof of concept grants, coaching, grant training, and innovative laboratory space in a suite of tools designed to accelerate new ventures. They will also work with Pandemic Resiliency to select the most promising technologies to be the basis of new portfolio companies. The Investment Analyst, utilizing scientific, finance, and business experience, will actively participate in the following responsibilities:

• Help create and build de novo St. Louis bioscience companies
  • Source and triage opportunities from research institutions, entrepreneur, and other professional investment groups
  • Perform scientific and business assessments of new company concepts and early-stage ventures; design milestone-based, go/no go decision funnels on a project-specific basis
  • Identify, engage, and help manage external resources, including consultants, vendors, KOLs, and other resources needed on a project-specific basis
  • Continuously evaluate progress; accelerate projects and companies that achieve milestones
  • Evaluate management teams on an ongoing basis; recruit and build teams as necessary to progress new companies to initial funding and beyond
  • Assist with investments in both seed-stage and venture-backed bioscience companies
  • Support existing portfolio companies as they advance their products and business models Desired Qualifications/Experience:
    • PhD in biosciences or related discipline from major research institution
    • Strong interest in venture capital, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization
    • Previous exposure to startups, licensing, market analysis and due diligence preferred
      • Must reside in the in St. Louis region or be willing to relocate. Skills:
        • Excellent inquiry, persuasive, collaborative, and communication skills, both with internal and external audiences; ability to excel in both a team setting and independently; excellent listener; ability to see and focus on the big picture while simultaneously keeping attention on the key details; excellent judgment and critical thinking; prioritization and project planning skills; ability to balance risk with opportunity; must be able to take a non-biased approach to evaluations, keying on objective information rather than subjective; commitment to building an inclusive, diverse team and organizational culture.
        • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a broad scientific background, mostly within the biological sciences. They will also have strong interest in entrepreneur and small business development and be knowledgeable about the small business startup process. Exposure to technical evaluations, due diligence, and intellectual property review are highly desirable experiences for this position. Strongly desired experience within a startup or commercial setting. You should know: Your safety matters!
