Job Summary: The Production Supervisor has responsibility for
assigned staff in the machining, assembly and/or support
departments for products that are produced or bought by the St.
Louis Plant of Lincoln Industrial.
Responsibilities: Ensure a safe and secure work environment per ISO
14000 EHS standards.Primary supervisory responsibility on
Production floor in assigned departments.Lead and facilitate change
in the work environment and in methods of making and assembling
parts.Coordinate and control flow of production or assembly work
throughout the departments assigned to meet schedule
requirements.Supervise collective bargaining unit employees,
administer grievances within the scope of the contract, answer
questions or obtain answers to the questions as to employee's
problems or interpretation of union contract or company
policy.Initiate Engineering Change Requests.
Recommend changes to facilitate machining or assembly.
Reduce costs and continuously improve quality.
Maintain progress charts/graphs in each department to enhance
visibility of performance.Maintain safe work record and practices
and good housekeeping within the departments.Plan for manpower
requirements and arrange for additional help as needed.
Report on probationary employees, recommend transfers, promotions
Administer and document the disciplinary procedure.Communicate
department objectives and performance status to employees.
Solicit and constructively use employee input.
Provide active method for continuous employee involvement in
business improvements.Clearly communicate needs, requirements, and
production status to other supervisors and/or staff members.Work
closely with other supervisors and engineers to improve
productivity, processes, and cost structure.
Key Competencies: Ability to manage/supervise in a union
environment Proven effective verbal and written communication
skills, with demonstratable ability to communicate and lead in a
group/employee environmentStrong computer skills, including
Microsoft Office, JD EdwardsStrong organization skills, keen
attention to detail, ability to handle confidential information
Preferred Qualifications and Education: BS/BA, Associates or
Technical degree preferredTwo to four years of experience with
front line supervision.Demonstrated knowledge/experience with
machining processes and operations.
