forward.Summary Responsible for supporting the daily work
activities of the I&C group to ensure the safe control of gas
pressure levels in Spires transmission and distribution systems.
Serves as a leader on 24-hour call on a rotational basis (once
every several weeks however, expected to respond at all times, when
required) for the relevant franchise area(s).Duties and
Responsibilities
- Assists in the daily I&C Operations activities
- Assists in sequence of operations and shutdown procedures for
various types of main replacement and or repair involving pressure
regulating facilities.
- Participates in the formulation of the areas strategic
direction.
- Writes operations and maintenance procedures. Evaluates new
regulatory requirements and makes recommendations for
compliance.
- Lead resolutions during system supply emergencies.
- Serves as Leader on 24-hour on call a rotation basis, or as
needed.
- Acts as a liaison between Measurement, Gas Control, System
Planning, Construction Engineering, Field Ops, Pipeline Safety and
Workload Planning.
- Designs and delivers maintenance training, development and
testing programs.
- Serves as primary back up in absence of Supervisors/Manager and
assumes responsibility for all Pressure Operations.
- Stays abreast of best practices on training delivery
- Tracks, monitors and reports on data related to natural gas
pressure and measurement operations
- Manages special projects, may oversee or coordinate area wide
initiatives. May take lead on troubleshooting unusual, complex or
abnormal operating conditions.Essential Characteristics and
Competencies Supervisory Responsibilities
- Ability to cover for I&C Supervisors during vacations and
other absences required for special projectsRequired Education
(certifications, licenses)
- Associate's Degree is required, relevant experience may be
substituted for this requirement
- Bachelor's Degree is preferred
- MO Class E Drivers LicenseRequired knowledge, skill and
abilities
- 5+ Years Pressure Operations experience required, with 7
years
- Demonstrated leadership ability preferred
- Ability to develop and deliver training and assess
practical/field qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of natural gas piping networks, regulator
operation and system operating parameters
- Knowledge of natural gas measurement devices
- Knowledge in electronics and telemetry equipment
- Must be able to make effective and confident decisions during
stressful situations
- Ability to proficiently operate information technology for
process control and managing data for business decision making
- Ability to successfully negotiate business agreements and to
resolve disputes with business partners preferred
- Ability to conceptualize and analyze multiple scenarios in
solving business problems preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate complex messages to diverse
audiences at all organization levels preferred
- Ability to quickly evaluate and assess emergency response
requirements, coordinate related activity and make effective
decisions in stressful situationsPhysical demands, environment and
schedule
- Work is occasionally performed in a moderately noisy business
office. At times, work is performed in wet or humid conditions;
near moving mechanical parts; in an area with fumes; in an area
with airborne particles; in an area with toxic or caustic
chemicals; in extreme heat (non-weather); with risk of electrical
shock; in an area exposed to radiation; in an area exposed to
vibration; in a private office; in cramped or confined spaces; in a
very loud noise area; and in outdoor weather conditions of extreme
cold and extreme heat.
- Typically 6:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday
- Scheduled for on-call duty, which consists of extra hours of
work every third week
- Some additional hours required to handle emergencies and
