Sr. Tax Credit Specialist (Hybrid eligible)
Job Description


This position will focus on managing the transactions for the brokerage of Low Income Housing and Historic Tax Credits and support the investment and loan portfolios related to these credits. In addition, supporting the loan servicing and compliance requirements for the Community Development Entity (CDE) related to the New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) allocations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the tax credit sales documentation process including preparation of agreements (when required), distribution to clients, uploading and distributing to parties internally, process payments, close out the transaction on internal systems
  • Facilitate ongoing support and coordination with clients and associates to support tax credit sales
  • Coordinate closings with the client, Relationship Manager (RM) and attorney for all tax credit loan and investment closings
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of the tax credit partnerships to facilitate deposit and loan account management with internal and external accounting teams
  • Assist with monitoring the performance of Low Income Housing Tax Credit loan and investment portfolio
  • Prepare, review and facilitate on a regular basis the movement of funds for subsidiaries and borrowers; including loan servicing, disbursing and distributions for NMTC borrowers
  • Process monthly/quarterly payment of invoices to third party vendors and confirms receipt of asset management fees from borrowers, subsidiaries and vendors
  • Request and collect required financial and community impact information due from NMTC borrowers
  • Prepare and submit required reporting to NMTC investors
  • Coordinate all sale and investment transactions with the finance department
  • Perform other duties as required

    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Proven experience working in a fast paced, high volume, customer-centric environment
    • Ability to work both independently as self-starter and a team environment
    • Effective time management and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
    • Proficient in the use of technology including loan origination and core banking systems
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate complex activities prioritize conflicting demands and must be able to meet deadlines
    • Ability to work under tight deadlines

      Supervisory Responsibilities:
      • None

        Education and/or Experience:
        • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
        • Associates degree preferred
        • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting tax credit or commercial lending with an emphasis of investing and brokerage activities
        • Understanding of lending practices and loan documentation including regulatory requirements

          Computer and Software Skills:
          • Skilled in operation of a personal computer, including Microsoft Office
          • Bankway
          • Sales Force
          • Google Mail
