Description:A contract testing company of gases and oils. They are looking to hire 2 QC chemists to assist Rob (lab manager) and Matt (chemist) in the lab. Some of their customers are heavily regulated. They primarily test petroleum and gases as a third party, but have recently expanded scope of products to include alcohol-based soaps and cleaners. Their largest oil/petroleum client is BP. They will be doing a lot of the assistant work at first. Eventually, they will be trained on a lot of the job, and will be able to perform the following tasks:This person will be running tests such as ion chromatography, AA, GC. Laso, they will be trained on a new machine they just got for their second biggest client, and Intertek is the only company in St. Louis with this machine. It is called an octane engine. Jeff does not expect the candidate to have any experience with this. A typical day on average will look like this: come in, log in samples, assign samples to the right type of test, review data, report test results to Rob, and Jeff will report results to client. At times they will be expected to set up test methods. They will be trained on how to do all of this. Below is the official job description:SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIESReceives, examines and records through a login process, inbound samples for testing.Delivers test samples to the sample staging area.Monitors the availability of supplies needed for testing processes, and makes any needs for such supplies known to the Laboratory Manager.After showing and documenting proficiency for the task, performs testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology. Reviews results against specifications and known expectations. May be delegated to issue analyzes to clients.Prepares samples and quality control specimens, prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions, and calibrates equipment needed for the testing processes.Verifies and communicates results obtained, and makes appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and any other media, whether print or electronic, required, assuring the validity and traceability of the information.Maintains documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat, orderly and safe condition.With sufficient proficiency shown and documented, is able to assists in the training of less experienced employees.Carries out all of the above responsibilities in a supportive manner with adherence to the Company's Safety Policy and Procedures, Quality Management System, Ethics Policy, Environmental Management System, Vision and Strategy, and exercises good judgment, common sense, and diplomacy.Skills:chemistry, gc, hplc, titration, AA, ion chromatography, AssociatesTop Skills Details:chemistry, gc, hplc, titration, AA, ion chromatographyAdditional Skills & Qualifications:Bachelor degree in biology, chemistry or biochemistry (or any related field) with instrumentation experience from school. Intrumentation/lab work from school that Rob would like to see on a resume include HPLC, GC, FT-IR, UV/VIS, NMR, Titration, Distillations, Synthesis, pH measurements, Solution prep. They would also take some industry experience with no degree or associates. Just need some basic exposure to these techniques- they will train the restWould take someone with an associate if the other hire is a bachelors.
