SVP, Credit Policy & Administration (Remote eligible)
Job Description

Responsible for drafting, editing and/or re-writing policies and procedures for use across the bank's business lines. Performs analysis and research on functions, processes, and products to ensure content synchronization and coordination among multiple subject matter experts, and/or business units. Coordinates timely revision and annual review of policies, procedures, or processes. Provides oversight for the Credit Administration function to improve the loan portfolio credit quality to assist the Bank in meeting its overall business plan goals and maximizing loan profitability within capital risk limitations of the Bank.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops the written content and provides editing support for the business line, or various other communications related to business line and resources for the business lines related reference material. Ensures written content meets all Federal and State requirements, through collaboration with Compliance and/or Legal staff, and meets Bank standards, policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Segregates Enterprise level policies and procedures from those belonging at Business Unit/Division/Department level. Scope includes every lending category offered by the Bank (Consumer, Commercial, Construction, SBA, Specialty), as well as related Regulatory/Compliance matters.
  • Establish controls and training programs to ensure underwriting, asset quality, and compliance with designated laws and regulations are developed and followed.
  • Oversee the administration, coordination and documentation of the Watch List, payment delinquency, and loan portfolio quality.
  • Ensure that loans adhere to existing policy guidelines and are sufficiently documented to ensure security of collateral and that administration and review are adequate to maintain the loan portfolio's quality and profitability.
  • Work closely with the lending staff and credit analysts to ensure Bank policies and procedures are adhered to and all credit presentation approvals are thorough and concise.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of changing legislation and regulatory climate and recommend changes to the Bank's credit policies and procedures;
  • Oversee the quarterly analysis of loan concentrations that adheres to Bank policy and is regulatory compliant.
  • Periodically examine files for assurance of credit and collateral documentation, regulatory compliance, and loan policy conformance. Review technical exceptions and deficiencies and provide reports of exception to the Credit Committee of the Board.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of the monthly loan reports to the Credit Committee of the Board.
  • Submit accurate and timely reports as required by the Bank's senior management and regulatory agencies;
  • Work proactively and effectively with Bank regulators and external auditors to ensure the Bank maintains a healthy regulatory rating;
  • Attend regular regulatory and industry training/conferences to gain perspective on industry trends and correlate to Banks business practices
  • Oversee the CECL calculation

    • Prior management experience and strong supervisory skills required.
    • Possess strong knowledge of the overall business marketplace and banking industry
    • Extensive background in Bank operating policies and procedures, business development and Banking regulations (Federal and state), employee development;
    • Prior involvement with special assets and/or the loan/credit review functions.
    • Prior experience with the ALLL or CECL
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational/time management skills;
    • Ability to multi-task completing multiple projects simultaneously, manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently and within established timeframes;
    • Experience in consumer, residential, commercial and commercial real estate lending ideal
    • Ability to work independently and/or in teams with minimal supervision;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internally and externally;
    • Ability to effectively supervise, mentor, monitor, motivate, train, and evaluate the work of others;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills evidenced in both verbal and written communications as well as excellent listening skills;
    • Experience with written business communications.

      Supervisory Responsibilities:
      • Provide direct reports with the proper tools, training, and authority to execute their assigned functions. Develops skills of supervisors through goal-setting, coaching, problem resolution, delegation, training, counseling, and performance management. Recommends staffing levels and approves personnel actions such as hiring, terminations, promotions, transfers, training and development of the staff, performance reviews and salary increases.

        Education and/or Experience:
        • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance or Economics from a college or university; or 10+ years of related experience and/or training. Work related experience must consist of management experience in the financial services industry.
        • Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
        • Prior work experience at a bank with $10 billion in assets a plus.
