Job Description:
Job Description We are South City Hospital. Our primary function
is to offer continuous nursing, medical, and other health and
social services on a 24-hour basis, under physician directed care
and RN supervision. We focus on providing care for patients who are
not in the acute phase of illness or requiring services in a
hospital and who require primary, restorative, or skilled nursing
services on an inpatient or custodial care basis. Our goal is to
help our patients reach a degree of self-care in essential daily

medical, dental, and vision insurance. The Ultrasound Tech performs
diagnostic ultrasound and DXA bone density examinations of quality
and quantity that meets the department standards. The Ultrasound
Tech also assists the radiologist in performance of certain
ultrasound guided biopsy procedures. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Is
proficient in the use of ultrasound and DXA bone density equipment
in performing diagnostic examinations of quality and quantity that
meets the department standards. Assesses problems areas relating to
the department and works with a radiology supervisory personnel on
timely solutions to those problems. Learns new procedures and stays
current in the ultrasound area using continued education
opportunities. Performs quality assurance work relating to the
department of ultrasound. Ensures quarterly preventive maintenance
is done on the equipment. Looks for innovative approaches to
improving the overall efficiency and quality of work done in the
ultrasound department. Maintains confidentiality of patient
records. Ensures cleanliness of ultrasound equipment in the
examination rooms according to the department standards. Performs
other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Must have knowledge
of growth and development and show clinical expertise for the ages
of patients served, including child, adolescent, adult and
geriatric. Possesses the ability to react effectively to these
patients' needs. Must be a graduate of an approved school of
ultrasonography. Individual must be a Registered Sonographer in
good standing with the ARRT or ARDMS. Must have a solid background
in all areas of ultrasonography, particularly in OB-GYN peripheral
vascular examination as well as abdominal ultrasonography. Ability
to handle multiple tasks. Good understanding of cross sectional
anatomy. Ability to apply patient history to exam. Good oral and
written communication required.
