Role Purpose

The IT Business Relationship Senior Manager (or BRM) partners closely with the business organizations to capture, understand, prioritize, and describe demand.  The BRM also provides the primary business interface to IT delivery and enablement functions (BA Support, Portfolio Manager) in order to support effective alignment with business needs and assist in managing change internal to IT.


  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans.  Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets.  Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Partner closely with the business to understand, prioritize and describe demand for the various operating units, and serve as the interface in scheduling and sequencing delivery to align with IT’s strategic objectives and enable change across the enterprise portfolio.
  • Create a recurring, two-way communication program to keep the business entities apprised of IT performance, project status and strategic priorities and understand fundamental business unit goals, strategies, plans, and critical success factors.
  • Define, review, and approve high level business requirements to describe business needs and define the required scope of the solution; partner with Service Delivery in improving service delivery outcomes, metrics, and responsiveness.
  • Support the business through an IT governance/decision process at key decision points by identifying alternatives, limitations, constraints and dependencies, and benefits (e.g., ROI, TCO, enhanced functionalities) of proposed solutions.
  • Ensure the business service owner remains accountable for value realization, and that project teams understand their accountability for enabling the necessary metrics as part of the project to demonstrate overall business solution effectiveness.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree/Enrolled in Bachelor's Degree
  • 5-10 years of experience
  • 2-5 years of supervisory experience
