Overview

Role Purpose

The role directs and oversees Patient Access for all BJC hospitals. The individual is responsible the optimal patient financial experience while ensuring accurate and complete registration of all inpatients, ED patients and outpatients to drive the collection of $5 billion in revenue annually. This includes systemwide leadership of people, processes and technologies with an organization with nearly 700 people and an operating budget of $43.3 million.


Responsibilities

  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets. Responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
  • Manage all patient access functions to ensure accurate and complete data capture of demographics and insurance data required for billing and collections. Support scheduling functions to insure close integration with pre-registration and admitting. Manage performance metrics and service level agreements.
  • Ensure the efficiency of operations and compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, laws and standards.
  • Collaborate with hospital finance and clinical leaders to ensure the excellent patient financial experience and overall results.
  • Optimize of use of revenue cycle technology.
  • BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Minimum Requirements

 

Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • - Finance/Business/related

 

Experience

  • 5-10 years

 

Supervisor Experience

  • 5-10 years
