Overview:

The Job Coach will provide coaching and mentoring to volunteers with developmental disabilities and help them acquire and maintain vocational skills needed for employment. This role will assess the individual needs of the person with developmental disabilities who want to volunteer and/or provide additional support to help them succeed in possible employment opportunities. Keys for success are coaches that are present, modeling work and social behaviors and giving immediate feedback to the individuals and departments. Additionally, this role will assist in the development of new opportunities to promote the growth of the program and the success of its participants.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years experience working with persons developmental disabilities.
  • Required Education: High School Diploma with additional training in Special Education or related field
  • Preferred Education: Bachelors in special Education or related field preferred
  • Preferred Experience: Previous experience in healthcare Experience in a Special Education classroom with students 17-21 years of age and/or supporting people with development disabilities in community and work environments
  • Other: Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required. Displays professional and courteous interactions with patients, co-workers and other hospital personnel. Prioritizes appropriately and utilizes good judgement with use of time. Accepts delegations of tasks. Negotiates and interacts effectively with service providers, the Office of Productive Living Service and other outside resources. Good problem solving skills required. Able to work independent and manage time effectively.
