Data is at the very center of what we do as it helps us shape our portfolio of analytical products. We're looking for a VP of Data Science to help us expand our data-centric strategy and deliver products. This work will involve a combination of data engineering, data science, and machine learning expertise and as such you will help lead our teams that do such.

You will report to the SVP, Data and Analytics and manage our data and modeling teams. You will work with leaders in our product, program and engineering teams and you will own the data strategy to support data science and be responsible for analytics strategy and analytical capability to derive new insights and develop models across all our business areas. In addition, you will lead, manage, and further build out our current team of data engineers and data analysts, as well as our data scientists and ML engineers.

The VP, Data Science/advanced Analytics will lead the data science team, which includes data, model and analytics development. You will be responsible for all aspects of design, build and delivery of data and data science models and services. You will work with leaders in our product, program and engineering teams and you will own the data strategy to support data science and be responsible for analytics strategy and analytical capabilities. You will work across all of the Radian business areas. In addition, you will lead, manage, and further build out our current team of data engineers and data analysts, as well as our data scientists and ML engineers.

What You Will Do:

  • Must be obsessed with delivering results, insist on high standards, possess a knack for thinking big and "finding a way", and an external awareness and curiosity to innovate and disrupt
  • Must be able to lead a team with a diverse set of skill sets including data engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers and quantitative modelers
  • Lead RDNA's data strategy including data storage, data modeling, data engineering for use in analytics, data process automation, and business continuity.
  • Lead RDNA's modeling and analytics development including cloud operations and tool strategy, model development, model governance and operations.
  • Provide technical leadership to team including research, development and algorithmic review, mentoring and peer reviews, and hands on development of models and solutions
  • Manage and develop staff resources, create inclusive and diverse workforce, ensure accountability and ownership, establish staff goals and expectations, ensure
  • Work with internal leadership on model ownership, roadmaps for future development and enhancements, and planning for development
  • Work with leadership to develop and manage budget, planning and communications, and model governance

Who We Are Looking For:

  • 10+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education, qualifications, and experience.
  • Master's Degree, Concentration in Math, Statistics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Econometrics preferred.
  • Interacts with clients to define strategy for data science (ML/AI/DL) use cases
  • Architects solutions and recommendations to meet client/product objectives
  • Expert experience with cloud providers (AWS, Azure) and their machine learning tools
  • Expert experience with data pipelines, data tools, and data organization for analytics
  • Expert experience with building machine learning or other types of models
  • Comprehensive knowledge of math, probability, statistics and algorithms
  • Experience with finance, mortgage and real estate markets

Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior proven experience with designing and architecting analytics systems from design to operations
  • Past track record of innovation and implementation of emerging technology and capabilities
  • Prior experience in managing large and diverse teams of data engineers, data analysts and data scientists
  • Prior experience in demonstrating ROI impact to business
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem and situational analysis skills along with strong analytical and creative thinking skills
  • Experience with develop the design and operation of large, complex data structures and systems
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks and all aspects of model development
  • Prior experience with computer vision modeling, recommendation systems and consumer propensity/behavior modeling
  • Expert experience with programming languages such as Python, R and C(++, #); and query languages such as SQL
