Benefitfocus solutions support the administration of all types of benefits including core medical, dental and other voluntary benefits plans as well as wellness programs.

Our Business Solutions Consultant is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of the Benefitfocus Platform, providing Benefitfocus product and implementation expertise, working with customers (Insurance Carriers) to understand their business requirements, technical requirements, and helping to configure and test the Benefitfocus solution. This position requires a self-motivated, customer-focused professional with strong follow-through who consistently keeps commitments to customers and fellow associates. This position is remote and is operating based on central time.

Responsibilities:

  • Uncover how a customer defines success and align that vision with Benefitfocus product capabilities to support a long-term mutual partnership
  • Understand the full end to end customer solution, including reporting and high-level data exchange needs, in order to ensure the platform solution supports and incorporates the upstream and downstream technical requirements
  • Define and drive the overall platform solution from initiation and discovery all the way through deployment
  • Create accurate, detailed, clear requirements documentation with customer use cases and expected outcomes that tie back to each requirement
  • Coordinate and achieve written internal/external stakeholder approval on all deliverables, including requirements documentation, operational process, and design/workflow diagrams
  • Consult the customer on best practices and solutions to address and eliminate inefficiencies or issues
  • Effectively communicate short-term and long-term risks and ROI relative to solution options, and guide the customer to the best overall solution that supports both customer requirements and Benefitfocus business interests
  • Clearly and concisely communicate to customers the Benefitfocus product capabilities
  • Understand the customer's current systems, operational business processes and architecture, and anticipate potential risks or issues related to platform solutions to identify mitigation strategies
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Customer Management teams to ensure internal stakeholder input and approval of all requirements and solutions
  • Support the Test Manager by reviewing and approving test plans and scenarios to ensure solutions are effectively and thoroughly tested prior to and upon deployment
  • Lead discovery sessions, product overviews, platform training sessions
  • Define the discovery strategy and work with the Project Manager to create realistic project timelines based on thoughtful level of effort for implementation
  • Work directly with customers and the Test Manager to troubleshoot, research and resolve testing questions and issues
  • Own the conversion of legacy data into the Benefitfocus solution as required
  • Ensure a smooth transfer from the customer's legacy systems to the Benefitfocus platform
  • Consult the customer on, and document as part of requirements, operational processes related to data exchange to ensure smooth transition to production support
  • Coordinate and lead hand-off meetings with the Benefitfocus customer teams supporting production operations
  • Produce detailed design diagrams and data workflows
  • Adapt to a fast-paced work environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Preferred 5+ years of experience in software development and implementation environment
  • Preferred 5+ years employee benefits, payroll, human resource generalist, or software/platform consulting experience with a client-facing aspect
  • Strong understanding of project implementation methodology and techniques
  • Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction, collaboration, and self-learning
  • Drive for data accuracy and completeness
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organization skills
  • Strong writing ability
  • Strong knowledge of multiple software applications
