KPMG is currently seeking an Associate Director, Cloud Technologies Architect to join our Digital Nexus technology organization.


  • Define cloud strategy with respect to enterprise related standards and design goals; lead and/or contribute to secure cloud infrastructure solutions as a domain architect
  • Ensure solution designs are aligned to cloud industry & IT security best practice; Provide technical design and architectural leadership, including documenting and diagramming the logical, physical and process views across multiple technology domains
  • Facilitate organizational change by defining strategies for the firm with respect to technology standards and design goals; evaluate business requirements in the early stages of projects to determine what software, integration technologies, system architectures and patterns should be employed to meet business objectives efficiently
  • Participate in the development of roadmaps, which include product selection, versions, upgrades, projects and milestones; conduct research focused on identifying emerging cloud technology solutions that reduce costs, increase efficiencies, provide more value, provide more capabilities, reduce risks and increase security
  • Lead efforts for technology evaluations, which involve identifying a weighted feature matrix for a specific need and evaluating and scoring products against the desired features; research activities include readings, proof-of-concepts (POCs) and lab testing
  • Communicate best practices by giving presentations, working with project teams and authoring content aimed at educating others about standards, strategies and otherwise defined best practices; work individually and collaboratively with team members to ensure breadth and granularity of strategies, standards and reference architectures for consistency and integration; collaborate with project teams to assist in delivery of the solution implementation by providing guidance as needed to application, engineering and operations teams


  • Minimum eight years of recent hands-on experience drawing detailed technical diagrams and authoring technical documentation, as well as with designing secure, highly available cloud platform/infrastructure solutions at enterprise scale
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred
  • Deep technical knowledge of cloud solution architecture in one or more cloud service providers (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Extensive experience in developing enterprise grade solutions across a multitude of cloud solutions; ability to create both simple and complex solutions spanning both hybrid and exclusively cloud solutions; including working with both SaaS, PaaS and IaaS; detailed understanding of the key decision points on the best designs for SaaS, PaaS and IaaS and an understanding of when to leverage these solutions to get the most value for the business
  • Comprehensive understanding of complex on-premise solutions which combine both commercial and custom technologies; including understanding various network (physical and virtual) architectures as well as well and dedicated and virtual infrastructure; ability to drive solutioning leveraging disparate technology stacks and able to do so in a manner which provides the highest levels of security and performance
  • General understanding of operating system models (Linux, Windows), hardware architectures, distributed computing architectures, storage technology (SAN/NAS/DAS), server virtualization, memory management, networking, system maintenance, disaster recovery, database failover models, database theory and design, Security/Identity Management (AD), authentication and authorization, Business Intelligence platforms, dashboards, data mining and visualization tools, mobile application development and service integration
