An experienced civil litigator needed to join existing in-house
litigation team responsible for Macy’s nationwide uninsured
litigation docket. This position requires the active handling of
all aspects of lawsuits brought against the company from answer to
appeal. Successful candidate must have significant employment
experience – first chair trial experience required. This position
in particular will require knowledge of and ability to handle
California Private Attorney General Act cases and other complex and
class action litigation. Strong writing skills a must.
Strong ability to analyze issues and write persuasively to
convince audience. Submission of a writing sample in advance of
interview is required. Writing sample must demonstrate ability to
perform complex analysis and to write persuasively.
Demonstrated ability to litigate a range of commercial and
complex litigation matters independently and with minimal
supervision, on behalf of Company from investigation to appeal,
including but not limited to, research; writing briefs/motions;
interviewing witnesses; investigations; drafting /responding to
discovery; taking/defending depositions; mediating; negotiating;
conducting arbitrations and trials as first or second chair;
communicating with client, opposing party, courts and
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team depending on
department needs. Must be able to work closely with both the
litigation team and the wide-range of clients it serves.
Ability to supervise and train less -experienced counsel
Must possess good client services skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills required; must
be able to prioritize assignment and multi-task.
Required to participate in interdepartmental conferences,
committees, and meetings.
Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.
Perform other duties as assigned.
15 years or more active litigation experience.
Also, must be admitted to Missouri bar or other state bar. If
not licensed in Missouri, must have ability to waive in to Missouri
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to read, write, and interpret instructional documents
such as reports and procedure manuals.
Basic math functions such as addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division.
Must have a strong ability to identify legal issues and
