Business Need / Purpose of Role The director of sales position is responsible for planning and implementing sales and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through direct reports.

Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities Including but not limited to:

Develops and implements strategic sales plans and forecasts to achieve corporate objectives for products and services

Achieve or exceed budgeted Input, Output and PBIT objectives

Identify new markets, channels of distribution and customers to drive company revenue growth and profitability

Develop and recommends products, pricing, programs and distribution structures to support and achieve new market growth objectives and produce the highest possible long-term market share

Determine and recommend opportunities to grow sales of other Weir Group companies’ products through WSP sales and distribution channels

Provide the organization with accurate and on-time forecast

Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product

Meets with key clients, assisting sales representative with maintaining relationships and negotiating and closing deals

Analyzes and control expenditures conform to budgetary requirements

Oversee Project Engineering activity to support Input, Output and PBIT as well as new product development activity.

Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications

Provide mentoring and coaching to department employees with special focus on high potential and successor candidates

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications Education/Experience:

Minimum BA or BS degree required (Engineering preferred); MBA preferred; minimum 7 years management experience directing sales functions, minimum 7 years of pump/valve experience in our core served markets; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability :

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

Proficient with General Dynamics, SAP C4C, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point), Outlook, etc.

Managing People – Includes staff in planning, decision-making, facilitating and process improvement; takes responsibility for subordinates' activities; makes self available to staff; provides regular performance feedback; develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth; solicits and applies customer feedback (internal and external); fosters quality focus in others; improves processes, products and services.; continually works to improve supervisory skills.

Business Acumen – Understands business implications of decisions; displays orientation to profitability; demonstrates knowledge of market and competition; aligns work with strategic goals; knows the competition; is aware of how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.

Judgment – Displays willingness to make decisions; exhibits sound and accurate judgment; supports and explains reasoning for decisions; includes appropriate people in decision-making process; makes timely decisions.

Dependability – Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
