Network Administrator
Summary: Ensure the stable operation of the in-house computer
network (wired/wireless), telephony, video surveillance, UCS,
storage (SAN and NAS), and backup (Veeam) networking
infrastructure. This includes planning, developing, installing,
configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network,
telephony, storage and backup infrastructure, software,
surveillance, and communication links. This individual also
participates in the planning and implementation of policies and
procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is
consistent with museum goals, industry best practices and
regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
- Perform network, telephony, surveillance, and storage and
backup network infrastructure design.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures and
associated training plans for network and telephony systems and
related solutions.
- Public/private network security strategy to include subnets,
encryption, DNS, and DMZ design with layered network security
defenses.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Deploy and maintain all hardware and equipment as it pertains
to network, telephony, and video surveillance systems.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and
contractors to secure network, telephony, storage, and backup
related infrastructure and services.
- Conduct research on network, telephony, surveillance, services,
protocols, and standards in support of relevant procurement and
development efforts.
Operational Management
- Manage security solutions, including security subnetting, DNS,
VPN, DMZ architecture, secure network admin protocols, network
monitoring, security certificates, and event logging.
- Manage all network, telephony, surveillance, storage, and
backup related network infrastructure, including routers, switches,
hubs, UPSs, IP/analog cameras, DVR/NVR, UCS, SAN/NAS, and server
connectivity.
- Administer/manage Cisco IP telephony and voicemail
systems.
- Administer/manager Cisco UCS environment.
- Ensure network connectivity for all workstations and desktop
phones.
- Administer all network, telephony, surveillance, and UCS
hardware/software upgrades.
- Practice network asset management, including maintenance of
network component inventory and related documentation and technical
specifications information.
- Administration of internal/external DNS and DHCP
scopes.
- Perform network security/vulnerability audits.
- Manage network/data storage infrastructure environments.
(Connectivity)
- Monitor and test network performance and provide network
performance statistics and reports.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform network improvements,
upgrades, and repairs.
- Provide support for current, ongoing, and future initiatives
around Cybersecurity and Privacy.
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor's in information technology (IT) or related field from
an accredited institution; OR associate degree and (7) years
working in comparable role.
- At least one; Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco
Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork
Expert (CCIE), Network+ or comparable industry recognized
certification.
Knowledge & Experience
- Extensive application support experience with Cisco network,
Cisco telephony, Cisco UCS, and IP/analog video
surveillance.
- Strong working knowledge of network-based security technologies
including firewalls, subnets, DNS, DMZ, VPNs, Access Control Lists,
network monitoring, event logging, and common security protocols
for administrative functions.
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware,
protocols, and standards, including routers, switches, firewalls,
IP telephony, and video surveillance systems.
- Hands-on network and telephony hardware and software
troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge and hand-on experience using remote tools to
facilitate end user support and troubleshooting.

- Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy
objects.
- Ability to climb ladders and operate various types of
lifts.
Additional Details:
Minimum of Range: $83,315 annually; commensurate with
experience
Status: Regular full-time (37.5 hours/week)
Selected candidates will be required to submit to a criminal
background check and drug test before hire.
