• Maintains responsibility for planning, coordinating, modelling, designing, implementing and administering databases.
• May be responsible for performance optimization and tuning, documentation and change management.
• Establishes and maintains security and integrity controls.
• Formulates, performs and monitors backup strategy and disaster recovery.
• Formulates and monitors policies, procedures and standards.Key responsibilities include:
  • Acts as a database designer responsible for complex databases employing deep knowledge of current technology and tools as well as relevant systems that already exist
  • Establishes and maintains database performance
  • Investigates and resolves intricate, difficult and complex database issues
  • Reviews data source requirements and ensures proper integration with the rest of the applications within the database
  • Analyzes, resolves and tests complex defects or improvements in the database
  • Leads database implementation and large- scale maintenance projects of new and existing databases
  • Identifies and evaluates industry trends in database systems to serve as a source of information and advice for upper management
  • Manages delivery of projects in partnership with business stakeholders, by demonstrating an expert understanding of the business needs and how technical analysis can produce solutions
  • Regularly takes the lead in developing data- related solutions based on cross-functional needs
  • Influences teams and stakeholders to achieve objectives; communicates how database administration work drives value for the business
  • Manages stakeholder relationships to ensure successful deployment of updates, problem solving and ongoing database administration
  • Provides implementation path for a group of systems to provide a solution; sets service level expectations
  • Coaches co-workers and provides feedback to enhance skills and knowledgeQualifications
    • Bachelor's degree required
    • 7+ years of relevant experience
    • Consideration will be given to candidates with 11+ years of experience in lieu of the degree requirementIn addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
      • In-depth knowledge of database definition, structure, documentation, operational guidelines and security
      • In-depth understanding of relevant database software
      • In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery strategies
      • In-depth knowledge of writing database queries and scripting languages
      • Advanced knowledge of database procedural programming languages
      • Advanced knowledge of performance monitoring and tuning
      • In-depth understanding of business client application(s) and database integration and implementation
      • In-depth knowledge of other areas of Digital, such as cybersecurity
      • Experience working with software/application vendors to optimize their code
      • Expert level SQL statement tuning experience with Oracle databases
      • Advanced knowledge of Oracle Enterprise Manager
      • In depth knowledge and experience with Oracle Exadata, RAC, and Data Guard
      • In depth knowledge and experience with Oracle RMAN, including database cloning
      • Advanced knowledge and experience with Oracle partitioning methods and best practices
      • Experience patching and upgrading Oracle databases
