Human Resource Leave of Absence Manager


The primary responsibilities of this role, Human Resource Leave of Absence Manager, are to:

  • Be responsible for the successful delivery of all leave of absence activities in compliance with federal, state and local regulations and with Bayer policies and internal controls;
  • Be accountable for timely delivery of all LOA team member activities, in high volume, fast-paced environment, including, but not limited to: LOA related data input into SAP & Kronos, timely completion of responses to employee inquiries, partnering with team members across HR Ops & vendors as required, LOA related project work and system testing;
  • Drive adherence to LOA standards, and efficient & effective usage of systems, tools and processes;
  • Oversight and accountability for ensuring high quality, accurate and timely delivery of LOA 3rd party vendor data feeds, reports, claim processing, and communications with employees and other stakeholders per service level agreements and performance guarantees;
  • Responsible for ensuring SLAs (Service Level Agreements) are met on ticket responses and mailbox inquiries from our stakeholders;
  • Assist the team with issue resolution, and educational opportunities for: IT, Data Management, Time/Attendance, Payroll, other business partners & 3rd party providers;
  • Drive a tight partnership with Legal and HRBPs;
  • Partner with Total Rewards strategy team to ensure LOA processes are in line with Bayer strategy;
  • Collaborate across HR Operations teams to ensure necessary partnership with other HR Ops functional areas;
  • Provide recommendations for, and own delivery of, process improvement initiatives in LOA, align with global and US stakeholders, and drive results for, special projects, initiatives and goals;
  • Own operational health metrics development and drive data insights/analysis for continuous improvement opportunities and business partner support;
  • Must stay current on legislation and monitor risk in our delivery of leave of absence activities.


    Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our life values, more specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

    Required qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree with eight or more years of overall HR, Finance, or Business experience;
    • Three or more years of experience in managing a team;
    • Four or more years of demonstrated experience with HR or Leave of Absence processes, policies, regulations, systems and best practices;
    • Confidence in autonomous decision making;
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex LOA issues;
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to data privacy regulations;
    • In-depth knowledge of HR programs and policies;
    • Role model for the Bayer LIFE Values, Leadership, Integrity, Flexibility, and Efficiency.

      Preferred qualifications:

      • Strong coaching skills and demonstrated ability to influence and motivate others;
      • Strong organizational & time management skills;
      • Strong proficiency in SAPHR, Kronos, and MS Office products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint;
