Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 03/09/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Step Down Unit position requiring ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications, as well as at least two years of stepdown experience. Responsibilities - Work in the Step Down Unit of an acute care hospital setting - Night shift schedule (3x12 hours), 19:00–07:30 - Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 - Required to work two shifts every other weekend, with varying night shift rotation - Floating required to lower acuity floors within the hospital or nearby affiliated hospitals - Care includes titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, insulin drips, management of trach vents, art lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes - Patient charting is completed in EPIC, and EPIC experience is required - Navy scrubs required - No local candidates within 75 miles are accepted - First-time travelers are not accepted for this position - Permanent employees of the health system must wait one year before returning as travelers - A maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed per 13-week contract, with no time off allowed during the first week of orientation - Facial hair that interferes with fit testing is not permitted—shaving may be required - Modules and hospital orientation must be completed prior to start - Free onsite parking provided Requirements - Active MO or compact RN license required - Minimum of two years of recent stepdown nursing experience - Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS - Must have worked bedside within the last six months - Must reside outside a 75-mile radius from the hospital - EPIC EMR experience required Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-663614.
