Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nurse Specialty: Step Down Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (18:30 - 07:00) Experience: 1 year required (2 years preferred) with critical care experience highly preferred License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Epic, MS/Tele Work Settings, Telemetry Work Settings, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown Work Settings, Blood Product Administration, Isolation Precautions Description: This position involves working as a Registered Nurse in a step down unit. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for all shifts. First-time applicants are accepted. The role requires weekend work every other weekend. The ability to float within the service line, including to MS units, is required to meet facility needs. A block schedule is not accommodated. Local applicants are not accepted within a 75-mile radius. Guaranteed hours are three shifts per 13 weeks. The role is based in a surgical progressive care unit. The unit specializes in abdominal transplant surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, ear/nose/throat surgery, plastics and ortho microsurgery, and general surgery/trauma/geriatric trauma. Unit details include primary care, phlebotomy, cardiac ECG monitoring, frequent I&O, central lines/ports, tracheostomy, laryngectomy, free flaps, leeching for flaps, arterial lines, and drip titration. Equipment used includes EKG, Phillips monitors central station, bladder scanner, internal/external dopplers, SCDs, hoyer lift, CPAP/BiPAP. The facility is a short-term acute care with teaching and trauma levels. Charting is done using the EPIC system. A flu vaccine is required with only medical/religious exemptions allowed.
