Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate individual for the role of Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor/Instructor in Public Health. This position offers an excellent opportunity to make a significant impact on the academic development and professional growth of our students in the new online Master of Public Health (MPH) program. The MPH program is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission with plans to be CEPH accredited, once eligible. The successful candidate will primarily focus on teaching courses related to health promotion and behavior, health program planning, and health care systems and policy, while also providing valuable advising and mentorship to students pursuing careers in these fields. This position will also provide support to the undergraduate Public Health and/or Healthcare Administration and Management programs through course development and teaching.

This position is a 12-month non-tenure track academic faculty appointment at the level of either Instructor or Assistant Professor dependent upon one's qualifications. This full-time position also comes with benefits including health, dental, and a generous retirement match, among others. The responsibilities for this position are 80% teaching, 10% research, and 10% service. Most of the teaching responsibilities will be associated with the online MPH program. The anticipated start date is as soon as May 1, 2024. Relocation to the St. Louis area is required with a flexible hybrid work schedule post relocation (i.e. 3 days in the office, 2 remote).

Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Course Development:

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in courses related to health promotion and behavior, health systems and policy, and other public health or healthcare administration topics
  • Utilize effective teaching methodologies, technology, and learning resources to create engaging and interactive learning experiences for students both online and in person.
  • Continuously assess and improve course content and instructional materials to ensure alignment with current industry trends and best practices.
    2. Student Advising and Mentorship:
  • Provide academic advising and career guidance to students interested in public health, health policy, and health care administration.
  • Mentor students in their academic pursuits, research projects, and professional development, helping them to achieve their educational and career goals.
    3. Curriculum Support and Program Enhancement:
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop the online MPH curriculum.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of academic programs, ensuring they remain relevant and responsive to emerging industry needs and changes
    4. Program Assessment and Quality Improvement:
  • Participate in program assessment activities, including student learning outcomes evaluation and continuous improvement initiatives for CEPH accreditation.
  • Collect and analyze data related to teaching effectiveness and student performance to enhance the overall educational experience for CEPH accreditation.
    5. Professional Development and Engagement:
  • Stay current with developments in public health through continuous professional development and scholarly activities.
  • Engage in professional organizations and attend relevant conferences, workshops, and seminars to network and share knowledge with peers in the field.

    Qualifications
    Preferred Qualifications:
  • A master's or doctoral degree (Ph.D., DrPH, or equivalent) in Public Health, Population Health, Health Policy, Health Behavior, Community Health, or a closely related field.
  • Previous online teaching and course development experience is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student advising and mentorship, supporting students' academic and professional growth.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse student populations.
