    What You Will Do

    This role falls within The Resource Group's Operations and Logistics Optimization Solution. Operations and Logistics Optimization is comprised of five communities working together to align inventory and data management, operational procedures, and key performance indicators, and to deliver a cost-effective, highly-efficient managed distributor model. By combining a culture of hospitality with leading operations and logistics processes and controls, these communities of skilled associates ensure resource and supply management runs silently in the background and operates in service of physicians, clinicians, leadership, and associates. The Surgical Support Services team will serve as a horizontal solution to connect case scheduling, instrument and supply consumption tracking, sterile processing, preference card management, revenue cycle, and equipment management to enhance service to caregivers and improve the surgical experience. The National Director, Surgical Support Services - Utilization Management will serve and lead The Resource Group's Utilization Management strategy in support of the local Surgical Support Services-Utilization Management teams based in each market, with a focus on providing guidance, direction, and leadership to all Managers on the Surgical Support Services- Utilization Management team. The National Director is responsible for leading change related to the adoption of new technology and tools, in collaboration with customers of Surgical Support Services, including, but not limited to, physicians, clinicians, and surgical technicians. This scope includes the direction of preference card management and optimization to ensure the surgeons and clinical staff consistently have exceptional experiences within our surgical environment. The National Director will also work closely with surgery and service line leadership to track and achieve a reduction in unnecessary variation and wasted supplies, to deliver on organizational and market goals. The National Director provides guidance to staff and is responsible for staffing, budget compliance, contributing to staffing decisions such as hiring and terminating employment, coaching and counseling employees on work related performance, and assisting in the compliance of policies and procedures to ensure a safe and effective work environment. The National Director also oversees implementation of training, monitoring, and operations initiatives that assure compliance with ethical and legal business practices and accreditation/regulatory/government regulations. This National Director will also lead the professional development and growth of his or her team. Responsibilities--
    • Leadership
      • Provides the system with an in-depth knowledge of the Integrated Surgical Experience, one horizontal solution designed to reduce the burden on clinicians and enhance the experience for all stakeholders
      • Establishes national goals that drive preferred processes; monitors through quarterly business reviews with surgical services and national service line leaders to ensure alignment to meet goals
        • Supports quality service through proper organization, staffing, resource utilization, and work allocation within the department
        • Promotes a culture of engagement with clinical leadership
        • Streamlines and enhances processes to continuously improve Preference Card management
        • Frequently prepare and brief clinical and executive leadership on national initiatives--
          • Results Delivery
            • Establishes and maintains a standard review process for preference card maintenance. Review performance and compliance across markets to ensure the full system is using a consistent and effective process
            • Leads national savings initiatives focused on reducing supply cost variation, aligning the usage of premium supplies/devices and drugs with the agreed/accepted clinical criteria of use, and tracking local savings in surgery
            • Leads the development, maintenance, and review of national utilization dashboards
            • Works with The Resource Group's National Implementation leadership to establish national initiatives and increase the opportunities for local savings
              • Recruiting, Training and Mentoring
                • Leads the recruitment, training and mentoring of team
                • Maintains and grows staff through personal leadership
                • Supports the processes and system (instrument tracking, sterile process information systems, and Ascension Studios developed tools) troubleshooting when problems are escalated
                  • Customer & Program Management
                    • Aligns with national and market service line and surgical leaders to develop and support growth strategies, as well as operational and savings targets
                    • Build relationships with new surgeons, surgery and service line leaders, and clinicians
                    • Stays ahead of Surgical Services industry trends
                    • Establishes a team culture to be a trusted resource for surgeons, surgery and service line leaders
                      • Exercises Responsible Stewardship of Resources
                        • Identifies unnecessary variation across the national system to support the delivery of high quality outcomes while lowering the cost of healthcare
                          What You Will Need

                          Education:
                          • High school diploma/GED with 2 years of experience, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree required.
                          • Master's degree HIGHLY preferred (business, healthcare, nursing, informatics, other). Work Experience:
                            • 5 years of experience required.
                            • 10 years of experience in business, surgical services, or management consulting HIGHLY preferred.Certifications: - IAHSCMM - CHL; Certified Healthcare Leader Training - required - IAHSCMM - CRCST; Certified Registered Central Service Technician - required - IAHSCMM - CIS; Certified Instrument Specialist - optional *Can be completed post-hire; must pass the exams for these certifications but do not need to complete the work experience requirements for official certification
