Coordinates placement of patients and staff assignments. Assists
clinical staff with patient care and unit activities. Facilitates
staff nurse attendance at meetings. Interacts with medical staff,
patient family members, department leaders and other personnel as
necessary. Participates in planning and performance of educational
training and orientation of unti staff, advises staff on procedures
Assists in planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of
patient care. Participates in unit quality improvement activities.
Oversees clinical activities. Directs staff and responds to
unanticipated and sudden changes in individual patients' condition.
May participate in hiring, termination, evaluation and disciplining
of employees and maintenance of anecdotal records for each
employee. Assists in the orientation of new employees to the

delegated duties such as development of staffing schedules,
planning of unit inservices, assisting with staff meeting planning
& implementation, maintaining productivity and setting overall
departmnetal goals and objectives. Collaborates with the manager in
the development and control of department budget, assuring accuracy
of time and attendance records and resource utilization.
Performs duties of staff nurse, as needed, due to acuity and
activity level of department.
Participates in nursing and hospital committees as assigned.
Attends appropriate mandatory meetings, inservices and continuing

physical environment and equipment in area of responsibility.

Completion of accredited nursing program
Currently licensed in the state of Missouri
Two years direct patient care experience as a registered nurse.
One year experience as department charge nurse
PEARS and/or PALS within one (1) year
