The spin-off, if completed, will result in the independent company assuming the Mallinckrodt name, and it will be traded on the New York Stock Exchange, with its headquarters in the St. Louis, Mo., area. The name Mallinckrodt ? and its historical values of quality, integrity and service ? have long been associated with the Specialty Generics business' St. Louis heritage. With approximately 1,600 employees globally, the newly spun company will include an acetaminophen business, a portfolio of both active pharmaceutical ingredients and generic finished dose forms of controlled substances and other drugs, a niche specialty generics development portfolio, a portfolio of third-party promoted and non-promoted branded drugs, and a strong U.S. manufacturing footprint. Summary The Finance - BD&L position will be responsible for partnering with members of the business development department to research, evaluate, and screen business development targets and then build and validate assumptions used for the preparation of valuation models. This position will be an essential contributor to the aggressive efforts to drive business development activities to accomplish the corporate strategic goals. This position prepares valuation analysis and supporting presentation material to highlight valuation insights for business development transactions that support the Company's strategic objectives. The position also plays a key role in providing the analytical and business decision support to the BD&L team as well as the broader finance, commercial, and strategy organizations of the Specialty Generics organization of Mallinckrodt. The position supports the evaluation of organic and inorganic portfolio opportunities designed to maximize the Company's market valuation. This position holds visibility to the Company's leadership will have a high degree of impact on the trajectory of Mallinckrodt's overall success. The Finance - BD&L position prepares and packages his/her ideas and proposals for consumption by the top leaders of the corporation. Essential Functions * Perform research on acquisition candidates using outside data sources Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, SEC EDGAR, Cap IQ, confidential memorandum, company websites, analyst reports and other various sources * Translate various data, assumptions, calculations and supported inputs into the Mallinckrodt valuation excel model * Review valuation outputs for accuracy / reasonableness and prepare presentation materials that summarize the assumptions and provide value add insights for interpretation of the valuation metrics against established company hurdles * Assist in the coordination, collaboration and communication of the assumptions in the valuations with the BD&L partners as well as the finance functional areas of tax, treasury, general accounting, financial planning and commercial finance * Engage in cross functional due diligence processes to refine valuation inputs and exploit value drivers of the business development opportunities and lead financial diligence of selected opportunities * Collaborate with external consultants, financial advisors and/or the internal strategy and portfolio teams in providing financial valuation materials for use in executive and board presentation materials and reviewing output for accuracy * Provide valuation model and explain assumptions and valuation methodologies to investment bankers and reconcile their valuation models used for fairness opinions to the Mallinckrodt model * Proactively initiate process or methodology valuation improvements * Support other corporate initiatives or various ad hoc or standard business development initiatives or requests Minimum Requirements Education / Experience: * Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA and/or CPA preferred. * 10+ years of experience in rigorous financial analytics; ideal experience coming from pharmaceutical, investment bank, private equity, or strategy consulting; pharmaceutical industry experience is highly preferred * Pharmaceutical/Specialty Chemical business experience preferred * Acquisition of products or product lines * Licensing of product rights * Co-promotion of products * Acquisition of corporations, groups and/or divisions * Product swaps * Using cash and equity as consideration * US and ex-US structures * The use of complex tax structures Competencies/Skills: * Personal accountability, responsibility and integrity * Excellent work ethic * Optimistic, entrepreneurial, "can do, will do" outlook, passionate and positive * Team player, highly motivated, a self-starter, self-aware, and considerate to those who work around them, appreciates diversity * Outstanding communications skills, both written and oral * Demonstrated proven advanced Excel and Power point skills * Ability to analyze complex data sets and develop supportable assumptions with incomplete data sets * Proven work prioritization and flexibility and ability to accommodate generating spontaneous deliverables * Financial presentation skills Organizational Relationship/Scope: This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer and is an individual contributor. Partnering relationships with VPs of business development and directors of business development. Will collaborate with other finance VPs, Business Development, and members of the portfolio and strategy group.
