If you are a PRODUCT PLANNING professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!Based in our St. Louis location, you will serve as the primary leader for HVACR Motors' new product development (NPD) processes along with the Product Planning function. You must be able to create/execute product development and project management strategies, which enable HVACR Motors business partners to succeed in the marketplace and deliver enhanced value for Emerson through sales and profitability growth. Leading and developing the project management team member functional skills and competencies is critical to the success of this position.AS A MANAGER OF PRODUCT PLANNING, YOU WILL:

  • In conjunction with our internal partners, assess market segment expectations and requirements to develop long-term product platform roadmaps, including prioritization of technology projects needed for current and future NPD.
  • Develop strategies to ensure consistent execution of Emerson's New Product Development Phased-Gate and Project Management processes to improve time to market, project schedule adherence, and other product development metrics.
  • Prepare and present product planning overviews and executive summaries for key Motors, HVACR Technologies, ISE, and Corporate planning meetings.
  • Manage and maintain the Motors NPD funnel and project lists, and coordinate and lead Portfolio Reviews of NPD programs and critical projects to confirm and communicate ongoing project prioritization and progress of process improvements with a global cross-functional team.
  • Ensure NPD training materials, programs, best practices, and lessons learned are consistently documented, communicated, and exchanged with appropriate HVACR Technologies and ISE personnel - especially Motors Product Planners in Asia.
  • Support updates to product volume/mix forecasts, capacity plans, and cost/pricing estimates as needed for key NPD programs and projects.
  • Manage the planning of market intelligence operational activities across global departmental functions to support a comprehensive and sustained competitive intelligence process by assigning, directing, supervising, and tracking project activities and deliverables of direct and indirect reports.
  • Interface with Emerson inter-company business partner executive teams/contacts to select and prioritize competitive assessment candidates, coordinate motor sample teardown analyses/reports, and develop consensus on motor company research criteria.
  • Develop strategic competitive market assessments by consolidating project status updates prepared by team members for quarterly management business reviews and semi-annual report-outs to present to senior executives.
  • Train, develop, and manage the Product Planning team, ensuring internal cross-functional effectiveness and strong/consistent business partner engagement.
  • As needed, may be responsible for managing an NPD program or coordinating communication with an Emerson partner business (Residential AC, Europe, ISE, etc).REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Five to ten (5-10) years in a business role with Two (2)+ years of relevant and progressive leadership experience related to Project Management, Product Development, and/or Process Improvement, preferably within industrial products
    • Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional team(s)
    • Presenting key business issues, alternative solutions, and strategic recommendations to executive/senior company leadership
    • Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this position.
    • Expertise in project management processes, tools, and/or software
    • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills
    • Strong process management ability
    • Excellent writing and verbal communication/presentation skillsPREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
      • Business or technical/Engineering preferred; MBA preferred
      • Background in HVACR industry or electrical motor development preferred
