Business Development Center in the St. Louis Office maintains the
standards of the Women Business Development Center (WBDC)'s mission
and values in a satellite office serving both the St.
Louis/Missouri area as well as the WBDC's nine-state region as a
whole. The Regional Director drives the WBDC's strategic plans and
initiatives through events, programmatic planning, and WBE
certification.REPORTS TO: Managing Director of Established Business
ServicesPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Capacity Building and Procurement Programming:
- Design and execute procurement and capacity-building programs
for certified Women's Business Enterprises (WBEs) and Corporate
Partners in conjunction with the WBDC's Director of Established
Business Programs, Regional Director (Twin Cities), the WBDC
Ambassador & Advisory Committee and Corporate Partners
- Collaborate with aligned local partner organizations to
develop, leverage and execute capacity building programs for
existing and prospective WBEs
- Participate in and speak as part of panels for business and
corporate events and serve as industry expert on WBE
certification
- Attend major events and workshops in the WBDC - Midwest's other
markets to share best practices, encourage collaboration, and
leverage effective programs offered in other markets
- Corporate and Government Development:
- Recruit supplier diversity corporate and government partners
for St. Louis Metro/Missouri territory.
- Maintain relationships with WBDC corporate and government
partners for St. Louis Metro/Missouri territory
- Identify opportunities and support WBDC's Development team in
raising program funding
- Consult and support corporate and government partners with WBE
Certification and supplier diversity initiatives and programs
- Identify and develop opportunities with government entities in
assigned region to allow WBEs easier access to government contracts
including recognition of WBENC certification
- Serve as staff to the WBDC's Ambassador & Advisory Committee
for St. Louis Office
- Foster and maintain local strategic partnerships by
participating in relevant local networking events and staying
connected to business and opinion leaders, economic development and
women's organizations, and the media.
- WBE Certification
- Implement standards and procedures of Women's Business
Enterprise National Council by managing and providing oversight of
Women's Business Enterprise (WBE) Certification application
processing
- Perform site visits (in St. Louis Metro/Southern
Illinois/Missouri territory in person, and throughout the full
region if virtual - due to covid currently all visits are done
virtually)
- Enhance value of WBE certification to women business owners and
corporate and government partners
- Oversight and Management Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance WBDC - Midwest's brand in region as part
of organization-wide strategy
- Cultivate and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with
aligned non-profit organizations in assigned territory
- In conjunction with Managing Director, oversee the work of the
Certification Specialist based in St. Louis including performing
performance review
- Provide revenue and expense oversight for St. Louis Office
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5-7 years of progressive work experience
- Interest in women's entrepreneurship and economic
development
- Strong knowledge of corporate and government procurement
activities for assigned territory
- Must be available for occasional evening and weekend work;
overnight travel 5-10% of time
- Valid driver's license required
- Excellent written, verbal communication and listening
skills
- Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite and office technologyWE
