This department interacts with all units of the hospital, coordinating bed availability and patient transfers as needed to the appropriate unit. The patient placement team have a thorough understanding of all services areas of the hospital.OverviewRole PurposeProvides leadership for BJC transfer center, managing all inbound and outbound transfer activity across BJC Healthcare. Responsible for oversight of transfer center staff and services with emphasis on clinical quality, physician engagement, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction and new business development.Responsibilities* Advocates for and provides services in support of referring physicians. Functions as primary contact for medical directors, physician advisory boards, and staff/referring physicians.* Works with all hospital (BJC and Non BJC) teams and key stakeholders on leading and facilitating efficient, timely transfers of patients across the system.* Oversees data collection, monitoring, evaluation, and analyzing of transfer center for the purpose of developing and implementing protocols, policies, and procedures.* Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.* Develops and adheres to departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets.
