Lead projects to identify or develop innovative packaging equipment solutions for new and existing packaging formats/materials for the global Purina business. This person will also have a role in packaging equipment performance improvement in Purina factories and supporting capital projects. Primary Responsibilities Lead projects to identify or develop innovative packaging equipment solutions for new and existing packaging formats/materials for the global Purina business. Required activities include, but are not limited to:
Lead project from concept phase through FAT, factory installation and startup, and maintenance/operator training.
Provide effective project planning and leadership
Fulfill requirements of Nestle's Project Management Process regarding deliverables for each phase, completing required documentation and project reporting on time.
Support packaging equipment performance improvement projects in Purina factories, using problem-solving methods to identify issues and providing engineering solutions to improve performance.
Support capital projects, ensuring the proposed packaging equipment aligns with Purina global standards and proposing packaging equipment solutions when needed.
Provide Packaging support to a wide variety of internal customer groups to include Marketing, Technical Applications Groups, Support Center, Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, Product Services, Procurement, Production and Finance.
Develop knowledge of Purina's global packaging equipment infrastructure.
Support the development of global packaging equipment standards and standards documentation.
Provide packaging equipment support and expertise to the global Purina organization. Training/mentoring others in the organization to increase the company's packaging equipment competency.
Effectively communicate through oral presentations and timely, written technical documentation and reports.
Travel as necessary, approximately 25% of time. Additional Responsibilities Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in Purina and Nestlé.
Assist Nestlé Purina Petcare markets in the selection, specification, procurement, commissioning, and operation of packaging equipment.
Leverage an understanding of package material and package machine interaction
Benchmark the performance and efficiency of filling and packaging lines.
Participate in cost reduction activities.
Develop and review packaging equipment investment proposals.
Provide training, mentoring and guidance to less experienced staff and others in the organization.
Additional duties as assigned Basic Requirements B.S. in Engineering/related technical field
2+ years of experience in operations, manufacturing, or engineering Other Knowledge in mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems
Knowledge of a range of machinery, preferably including packaging machinery for both flexible packages and rigid containers
Good project management and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects/priorities
Good communication and interpersonal skills with ability to both lead projects and to work effectively with project teams
Detail oriented, passion to understand root causes of technical issues, and ability to create efficient DOEs to answer technical questions
Has a passion for packaging equipment technology and has an R&D mentality
Basic knowledge of packaging materials
Good sense of business/technical interrelationships
Pro-active/Self-Starter Preferred Skills Experience with manufacturing operations
Knowledge in robotics and motion control
