Job Description

Are you an experienced diesel mechanic looking for an opportunity to level-up? Then we have an exciting opportunity with a possible signing bonus option of up to $7500 to join our family-owned company that recently celebrated its 50th anniversary! (The amount of the signing bonus may vary based on experience level and qualifications). This full-time, 2nd shift or weekend shift opportunity at our St. Louis dealership is ideal for candidates who balance various family situations, lifestyles, or interests that work best with alternative schedules.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform consistent, high-quality work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy according to OEM, warranty, and dealership standards.
  • Ability to read repair orders, observe and listen to vehicle operation, obtain diagnostics information, identify root cause malfunctions, plan work procedures, and perform necessary repairs on a vehicle as authorized.
  • Perform general and detailed repair of all trucks, engines, and components as directed or certified.
  • nstall injectors, liners, pistons, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, change or recharge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts, as authorized.
  • Lubricate moving parts and road test repaired vehicle to verify performance to specifications.
  • Ability to write thorough, organized documentation of diagnostic findings, repair status, and work performed using Service Notes to aid customer communication and warranty processing.
  • Communicates with Parts department to obtain and verify necessary parts as well as Shop Foreman and Service Administration team regarding status updates or requests.
  • Determine warranty claim status and complete necessary steps, documentation, and supplemental information to ensure warranty recovery.
  • Properly tag, save, and turn in parts requested by the customer or under warranty repair.
  • Examines the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required and advises Shop Foreman.
  • Perform quality checks of all work performed.
  • Road tests vehicles to ensure the repairs performed have resolved the customer's complaint(s).
  • Follow Elite Support and 5S processes to maintain a safe and clean work environment by respecting and returning shared company tools and equipment to the proper place; removing hazards and obstructions in your workspace; continually maintaining a clean bay area; and following protocols to keep customer vehicles clean.
  • Attend OEM- and vendor-sponsored training provided by Truck Centers, Inc. to remain current on factory technical bulletins, product updates, and/or certifications.
  • Comply with all safety rules to avoid injuries to oneself and others; reports conditions that are unsafe to mitigate hazards.
  • Understand and follow federal, state, and local regulations governing service repair work.

    EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • 3+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with medium and heavy trucks preferred
  • Personal commitment to consistent, quality work
  • Entry level candidates will be considered if they have attended and completed a diesel tech school program.

    Language Skills

    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, insurance representatives and other employees.

    Mathematical Skills

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

    REASONING ABILITY

    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Valid driver's license.

    CDL - minimum of a Class B with air brake endorsement or be willing and able to obtain within 90 days of employment.

    Clean MVR.
