Job Summary:Haskell is seeking a Senior Engineer - Process in
St. Louis, MO to lead Engineering and Design-Build projects from
the FEL/FEED stage through Detailed Design and into Construction
Support in a multitude of industries, including Food and Beverage,
Consumer Products, Manufacturing and Utilities. The primary
responsibilities will be to perform work pertaining to process and
utility design, equipment requirements, and overall system
operations. CPG: The Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Group at Haskell
supports core markets throughout the United States, as well as
Mexico and the Asia Pacific Region. Providing construction,

Responsibilities/Duties: Application of Knowledge of Process
Systems
- Requires applying experience and knowledge of Chemical and/or
Mechanical Engineering to develop technical proposals and execute
projects in a lead role.
- The Senior Engineer will plan, conduct and coordinate all
process engineering functions based on their review of a project
scope of work pertaining to both process operations and utility
systems with focus on process design, operation, and equipment
selection. Requires experience in engineering project procedures,
and the ability to communicate often and effectively with other
Engineers, Project Managers, Clients and Suppliers, and to
multi-task at times in a fast-paced environment. Design
- Responsible for leading and providing engineering design in
accordance with applicable industry codes and standards for all
phases of the process and utility engineering work.
- Leads technical review of project technical requirements with
Process team to define work plan.
- Develops and/or reviews mass balances, process flow diagrams
(PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) for
assigned projects, and provides guidance and input for similar
technical documents provided by Design and Project Engineers
- Determines detailed equipment requirements based on the process
design and prepares technical data sheets for Specifications for
all process and utility equipment, and/or provides review and input
for the requirements.
- Defines and performs and/or checks engineering calculations and
analyses used for piping and process equipment requirements.
- Creates and/or reviews Equipment Lists, Line and Valve Lists,
Tie-In Lists to existing piping and/or equipment, etc.
- Prepares and/or reviews Equipment Bid Packages for process and
mechanical equipment.
- Coordinates with Piping Designers for final piping layout for
utility and process piping. Construction Support: If Engineering
support is required after final design and in the construction
phase, the Project Engineer may be responsible to serve a lead
role, providing both office and on-site support. Duties include
providing clarification of the design, responding to Contractor
inquiries, and providing site support for equipment installation
and start-up and commissioning efforts. Requires extensive
knowledge of the process and project, as interactions with
Contractors and Client is critical. Project Management
- Represent Process Team in both internal and external
(Clients/Vendors) design reviews throughout the project
- Serves a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for select equipment
and/or processes.
- Serves as Mentor for Design and Project Engineers.
- Manages Equipment Bid Packages in terms of evaluating bids for
technical conformance, participates in overall Vendor selection and
provides technical support to the Procurement team throughout the
purchase cycle.
- Leads in creating and/or updating Standards and Procedures for
executing projects effectively and efficiently in the Process and
Mechanical Department.
- Leads and/or coordinates work with other disciplines and
participates in interdisciplinary coordination checks and QA/QC
reviews to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings
and
- Writes Scope of Work (SOW) and develops/assembles all technical
drawings required to issue Mechanical Contractor Bid Packages
- Provides technical guidance, mentorship and training for Design
and Project Engineers Planning/Scheduling and Profitability
- As a Project Lead, tracks actual hours worked each week for
themselves and their project team, and determines how much their
work is over or under budget and ahead or behind schedule.
- Support the Process Discipline Lead in developing baseline
labor and expense forecasts for the duration of project as part of
the discipline Estimate package for new projects.
- As Project Lead, responsible for ensuring his/her process team
produces a well-coordinated, technically sound, complete set of
documents reflecting the required scope of work on time and within
the budget.
- Assists in evaluating plans for major projects utilizing front
end loading (FEL) and best practices to facilitate cost effective
process engineering and project Professional Development
- Opportunities to purse FE or PE License working with
Professional Engineers
- Participate in professional organizations in terms of
memberships and/or educational courses and seminars
- Encouraged to consider further educational opportunities in
Chemical and/or Mechanical Engineering Leadership
- Role requires a self-starter who can work well within groups
and individually to further improve and contribute to the growth
and effectiveness of the Department.
- Provides guidance and mentorship to Design Engineers and
Project Engineers. Education
- B.S. or M.S. Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of experience in Engineering position and/or
Leadership Role
- FE and PE preferred, but not required
- PMP preferred, but not required Specific Knowledge, Skills,
License, Certifications, Etc.
- Experience and/or knowledge in food and/or beverage
(particularly beer, wine and/or spirits) processing
equipment/fermentation and distillation
- Experience and/or knowledge with standard process equipment in
terms of operation and applications: Pumps, Piping, Valves, Tanks,
Heat Exchangers, Pumps, Filtration, etc.
- Experience and/or knowledge with the following utilities
operations and function: Boilers, Compressed Air, Water Treatment,
Ammonia and Glycol Refrigeration, Waste Water, CIP/SIP Systems,
Cooling Towers, Furnaces,
- Knowledge of engineering role in equipment procurement (Data
Sheets, Specifications, Bid Packages, Technical Bid Evaluations,
).
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly and
effectively present complex information to all levels of employees,
management, and clients is
- Strong analytical and problem-solving Individual should can
apply intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and
practices to broad areas of assignments.
- Must be proficient in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint), experience with Data Management Software,
Bluebeam, AutoCAD/Smart P&lDs
