Job Number: R0068500 R&D Engineer Scientist, SeniorKey Role:Plan, conduct, and coordinate major scientific computer programming applications of considerable complexity while applying expertise in all parameters' affects and interfacing with the application. Work on projects that are normally on the forefront of new technology and require the use and development of state-of-the-art methods. Provide technical advice and consultation of complex scientific applications. Organize and direct the execution of broad programming projects. Provide analytical support for the conceptualization development and implementation of multiple inter-linked programs. Recommend and develop scientific programming methods and documentation standards. Prepare cost analyses and justifications for programming projects and act as a technical project leader or provide work leadership for junior employees, as needed.Basic Qualifications:-9+ years of experience with physics, geomatics, remote sensing, or scientific study-5+ years of experience with developing software in a high-level language, including Java, C, C++, Python, or R-Knowledge of developing solutions and integrating, extending, and contributing to open-source software-Knowledge of version control systems, including Github or Gitlab-Knowledge of software integration or testing, including analyzing and implementing test plans and scripts-TS/SCI clearance-BS degreeAdditional Qualifications:-Experience with designing and developing automated analytic software, techniques, and algorithms-Experience with MapReduce programming-Experience with distributed scalable Big Data store or NoSQL, including Accumulo, Cloudbase, HBase, or Bigtable-Experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and JSON or BSON-Experience with Apache Spark or Apache Storm-Experience with developing computer vision algorithms-Experience with data mining or deep learning techniques-Experience with geophysical modeling, including the World Magnetic Model and gravity model data.-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph-MS degree in Data Science, CS, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Earth Science, Geographic Information Science, or Quantitative Social Sciences preferred; PhD degree a plusClearance:Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; TS/SCI clearance is required.We---re an EOE that empowers our people---no matter their race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, veteran status, or other protected characteristic---to fearlessly drive change.
