We're a fast-growing startup founded by Stanford and MIT graduates. We're already serving thousands of students with over 30 different online live course offerings, and we're just scratching the surface.

Our courses are taught by researchers from top universities, and our content is derived from real-world applied research projects. We directly serve students and parents, and also partner with top schools like Sal Khan's Project-Based Learning school to deliver our content as part of their curriculum. We're growing our curriculum into more domains, a wider age range, and launching new tech-assisted learning formats to expand our reach.

As our Administrative Manager, you'll support our payroll and people operations functions. Your main administrative duties will include maintaining personnel records, managing HR documents (e.g. employment records and onboarding guides), handling payroll for our various team members, and updating internal databases. Our ideal candidate has experience with HR procedures as well as accounting/payroll, and can juggle various administrative tasks in a timely manner. You'll also be answering company phone calls and redirecting inquiries appropriately, so experience working with our customer base of parents, students, and other education professionals is appreciated. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure our HR department supports our employees while conforming to labor laws.

Responsibilities:
Handle payroll based on relevant employee information (e.g. leaves of absence, sick days and work schedules)
Organize and maintain personnel records
Update internal databases (e.g. record sick or maternity leave)
Prepare HR documents, like employment contracts and new hire guides
Revise company policies
Liaise with external partners, like insurance vendors, and ensure legal compliance
Create regular reports and presentations on HR metrics (e.g. turnover rates)
Answer employees queries about HR-related issues
Arrange travel accommodations and process expense forms
Participate in HR projects (e.g. help organize a job fair event)

Requirements
Proven work experience as an HR Administrator, HR Administrative Assistant, or relevant role
Background in accounting
Experience with Excel and Quickbooks
Extensive experience in hands-on payroll operations and Gusto
Computer literacy (Google Suite + MS Office, in particular)
Thorough knowledge of labor laws
Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects
Strong phone, email and in-person communication skills with parents, students, team members, and external organizations
BS in Human Resources or relevant field
Background in creating systems a plus
