Trade Review Specialist, Mutual Funds Trades Opportunity Overview The Trade Review Specialist role is a unique part the Mutual Funds Trades Department within the Operations Division. This role performs daily supervisory review and provides approval of trade corrections at the transaction level. Assessment and processing of corrections involves complex systems, requires strong technical knowledge, and creates financial and/or regulatory risk if delayed or completed incorrectly. Position requires in-depth understanding of area systems, trading processes/procedures, and regulatory guidelines. Must detect and/or prevent problems with trade corrections that would negatively impact the client and cause regulatory issues for the Financial Advisor and the firm. Professional documentation is required, and the Specialist is at times required to provide responses and justification for their decisions to regulatory inquiries, audits, vendors, or branches. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, the Trade Review Specialist is responsible for processing of mutual fund trade corrections. Qualifications Required in the Job: Bachelor's degree in finance or related field preferred Requires Series 7, 63 or 66; 9 and 10, or 24; 51 or 53 Three years of industry experience preferred; within a role that required managing risk Requires strong working knowledge of securities products and trading processes, including awareness of industry issues and trends Problem Solving: Must detect and/or prevent problems with trade corrections that would negatively impact the client and cause regulatory issues for the Financial Advisor and the firm. Must utilize industry knowledge and judgment to make decisions daily, and in some cases influence auditors and regulators related to potential regulatory actions by FINRA or other agencies. Must be able to make difficult decisions in ambiguous situations where little or no guidance is available. Associates will coordinate and organize date from internal and external audits which requires excellent attention to detail as well as the ability to explain complex processes and provide documentation of their decisions. Decision Making: Most of the decisions are complex and based on knowledge of the business systems and industry knowledge. They are made independently without a higher-level review of decisions or consequence and must always comply with regulatory rules. Errors in judgment, delays in action, and inaction, have immediate implications and can result in trading loss and expense of correction. Must be able to handle escalations within the department. These escalations will vary in complexity and often impact other areas. Will also have responsibility for trade correction execution, statistic reporting, and enhancement development and testing.
