The purpose of this position is to support, with supervision, utility bill management and energy & sustainability reporting for a large healthcare supply distribution client with a portfolio of 300+ properties globally.

USE: Energy and Sustainability ONLY


Functions as the in-house expert/administrator for CBRE's utility bill payment provider. Acts as the liaison between the bill-payment vendor account manager, CBRE E&S, CBRE finance and client finance.

Coordinates with the lease administration team, E&S team and utility procurement team and sets up new sites on the utility portal. Works with CBRE and client finance team to identify/correct GL codes. Removes exited sites from the portal promptly to ensure client is not paying for utilities at terminated sites. Routes utility refund checks to appropriate AR personnel by business.

Generates ad hoc utility reports, as requested. Adds/modifies client and CBRE users of the system. Address and resolve miscellaneous internal CBRE or client requests, such as providing copies of bills and other tasks

Investigates and resolves ongoing list of account "exceptions", working with the utility, finance team, site contacts and utility bill-payment vendor. Troubleshoots utility payment issues at sites.

Completes utility account registrations, schedule utility shut off, issuance of deposit checks and credit references as required.

Ensures data reliability and completeness of utility data (electricity, gas, water, waste). Builds robust processes around utility management and is responsible for developing playbooks to document all processes. Playbooks will need to stand up to external audits.

Prepares budgets for utilities; coordinates and reports on energy-related projects on behalf of client accounts. Prepares monthly variance and energy service status reports. Monitors and reports on energy, water and waste use, bill gap analysis and spending trends.

Reviews and understands utility rates and includes this data in reporting as appropriate. Maintains, reviews and analyzes utility bill data. Works with utilities to resolve billing issues and with the facilities teams to resolve consumption variance issues.

Understands and can calculate global GHG emissions for all scopes, carbon reporting, renewable energy, waste reporting, carbon offsets and energy efficiency in a healthcare/critical environment. Understands global compliance reporting and keeps track of changes in regulations around climate reporting.

Understands building energy consumption profiles. Has a working knowledge of building systems, energy and water efficiency projects and industry standards for measurement & verification of energy savings. Provides energy and sustainability related inputs to preventative maintenance and engineering teams as directed.

Assists in developing site energy and water profiles. Facilitates the maintenance and reporting of energy, water and waste benchmarks and performance metrics. Is familiar with industry benchmarks including Energy Star Portfolio Manager.

Under supervision, participates in inspections, surveys and analysis on the sites under management.

Understands past, present and future energy plans and performance.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics or similar program.




A valid driver's license with a good driving record for applicable vehicles, without restrictions, or limiting conditions. (Corrective lenses permitted)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.


Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis.


Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.


Entry level knowledge with analytic and research software programs such as R-programming or S-system used to analyze data

Entry level knowledge with statistical information and graphs and able to perform calculations and analyze that information


Must possess a thorough knowledge of the use, setup and operation of Windows-based computers and desktop applications such as MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
