540 - MORTGAGE LOAN OFFICER Kansas City, MO, USA Springfield, MO, USA St. Louis, MO, USA Req #172 Friday, June 18, 2021SUMMARYPerform loan processing and set-up duties associated with the documentation and posting necessary in granting credit to the Bank's borrowers. Incumbents will be expected to have a good understanding of the functional area so that they may perform competently in this area by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Perform full range of duties pertaining to the real estate loan processing function, including, but not limited to the following: interviewing loan applicants to obtain detailed information necessary to complete loan application; run credit and automated underwriting; complete loan documentation, work with the underwriter regarding loan approval, and communicate business decision regarding acceptance or denial to applicants. Review closing costs, loan estimate, and any other required disclosures with customers; obtain customer signatures on all required documents and disclosures.
Order credit report; calculate loan to value ratios, principal, interest, taxes, homeowners insurance, and PMI insurance to income, and all other payments to income to determine feasibility of loan and proper loan category; computes loan payments to include principal and interest; may discuss loan approval with supervisor, other residential loan officers, and underwriter; contact customers regarding questions/concerns; makes decisions and notifies customer; quote rate and term of loan; educate customers regarding locking in loans and potential ramifications of not finalizing; obtain documentation needed for loan file; forward file to loan processor and underwriter; close approved loans; send required documentation regarding denied loans; provides suggestions for ways to improve credit rating.
Proceed with processing paperwork on loans that will close per loan guidelines; present in-house loans to loan committee for approval/ rejection.
Contact potential customers to sell residential loan products and services; make regular calls to realtors and affiliates to facilitate lending; attend affiliate functions to market loan products.
Work with support staff to complete all required documentation, letter, reports, forms, etc. Authorized to sign bank drafts and other loan documentation necessary to complete loan closings.
Assist with documentation and responses to questions from internal and external auditors as well as examiners regarding work produced.

Perform full range of duties pertaining to the loan processing/closing/servicing function, including, but not limited to the following: order credit bureau reports to obtain credit history information on potential borrowers, answer customer inquiries, prepare processing and closing documents for new and refinanced loans closing. Review files to ensure that proper documents and disbursements are prepared accurately for loan officer performing the closing. Learn to obtain pay-off information as necessary. Demonstrate ability to review files after closing to ensure that all documents signed and checks disbursed.
Prepare thank you letters; follow up on pre-qualified customers to determine if they have secured a loan with another institution.
Cross sell other bank products.
Assist Residential Lending Manager and Officer as needed.
Represent the bank at various functions and provide leadership in community activities.
Comply with all banking regulations, policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEPossess a four-year college degree from an accredited university or institution with a major area of study in business administration, accounting, finance or other closely related filed. Professional work experience as a loan officer may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis. Additional education and/or training.
Possess more than two years professional work experience as a loan officer or comparable position.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESMust have the ability to operate the following equipment: telephone, 10-key calculator, typewriter, personal computer and printer, copy machine, fax machine. Must have working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software programs. Basic PC knowledge.
KEY CONTACTS-Internal and ExternalHas regular contact with loan officers to verify information necessary to process credit requests, denials, and closing.
Has regular contact with customers, their personal representatives, accountants, real estate agents, insurance reps, title company reps, credit life/disability insurance company claims reps, attorneys, student loan reps, etc., in responding to inquiries as part of the loan processing function.
Has regular contact with other financial institutions in responding to credit information on customers (e.g., credit status, pay-offs).
Has moderate contact with Credit Bureaus, title companies, Recorders, on borrower credit related reporting issues and pay-offs.
