Job Description - Director, State Income Tax (21003423) Director, State Income Tax - 21003423 Job Function : FINANCE Primary Location : United States-Missouri-St. Louis-A-B Headquarters Complex Schedule : Full-time Job Type : Permanent Posting Date : Apr 5, 2021 Job Description The candidate will join a state tax team passionate about developing and implementing A-B's tax strategy across all state taxes, including corporate income taxes, indirect taxes, credits & incentives, and legislative policy! This role will primarily focus on state and local income and franchise tax matters. Key responsibilities Tax Planning and Research:

• Develop and implement multi-state assessments that analyze state income and franchise taxes to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits, and corporate structures that can minimize A-B's tax obligation
• Assist in preparing and maintaining tax models computing the state tax impact of federal tax reform, state legislation, planning and positions adopted
• Review state tax filing positions and analyze impact to A-B
• Research and document tax technical positions to support conclusions on various state income tax matters
• Support the implementation of technology tools and automation of processes Tax Policy:
  • Monitor state tax legislative changes and evaluate the impact to the Company
  • Work with the Government Affairs team in matters related to state tax, providing technical support and analysis on proposed and enacted legislation
  • Participate in trade associations and coalitions to support A-B in state and local tax matters Tax Controversy:
    • Coordinate state income tax controversy practice, from initial audit responses, to administrative hearings and thru potential tax litigation.
    • Engage with local advisors regarding administrative hearings and litigation
    • Perform tax research and analysis related to audit assessments Compliance and Audit Support: This role will work closely with the Tax Operations team in St Louis to support and provide technical advice on the preparation of all state and local income and franchise Tax returns
      • Proven experience with state income tax matters
      • Solid understanding of federal and international tax matters
      • Ability to work outside of comfort zone
      • Operate as a team player
      • Work with all levels within the corporation
      • Ability to use tax knowledge and previous experience to add value and assist in meeting the department's objectives while working in a fast-paced organization
      • Work well independently and in a team environment
      • Strong verbal and written communication skills
      • Efficiently lead third party advisers who assist A-B in meeting its obligations and development of tax initiatives
      • Participate in discussions with senior management on state and local tax related issues
      • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, specifically Excel (e.g. Pivot tables, VLOOKUP's) Job Qualifications Education/Experience:
        • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business
        • Masters Degree in Tax, JD/LL.M in Taxation, and/or CPA certification
        • Minimum 9 years of relevant tax experience
        • Experience with 'Big Four' accounting firm, law firm or large corporation with complex structure and transactions Location:
